Analysis for Corneil note taking method

             The Cornell note-taking method is a strategy used to take effective condensed notes. I found this method of note-taking very effective and efficient as it provided me with a basis of writing and reviewing notes at the university level. This method offered several practices leading to many advantages in note-taking but in particular I found that the recall column, the use of abbreviations and reciting of notes to be the most successful factors.
             The recall column which condenses notes and lists important ideas, is beneficial for excluding unnecessary facts. I found it effective because it aided me in recognizing important ideas and supported me in understanding the readings. For example, when reading Hesiod's Theogony, I was able to remember important themes such as the progression from chaos to order.
             The use of abbreviations, which shortens words and phrases, was beneficial when condensing large amounts of material into shorter notes. I found it useful as I was able to record more of the lecture in a minuscule amount of time. For example, I used the "=" sign as a substitute for the word "is".
             After using the previous components, I found the reciting component to be the most helpful. The reciting component involves looking over the material from the lecture at least ten minutes each day for the purpose of achieving a longer-term memory. As I reviewed my material each day of the week, I found I maintained a longer lasting memory and I was able to grasp the lecture easily. For example, I found the reciting factor very useful when remembering the genealogy of the gods and their family tree.
             Overall, the Cornell method for note-taking was an advantageous experience helping me improve my note-taking methods in university, as well as my comprehension of the course material.
