Changes

             As a young child you never dream that your parents who seem to be happy, and love each other so much, would ever leave each other and go their separate ways. However, it seems recently that more and more families are being torn or split apart due to divorce. Although being difficult on the couple that is splitting up, I believe it is equally hard on the children whose parents are getting a divorce. Unfortunately, I have experienced this depressing act of separation first hand, because my parents broke up when I was twelve years old. After the divorce was finalized my life changed dramatically. When I was young I associated change as a bad thing, but it doesn't always have to be that way. The divorce brought about a new home, my parents dating, and a new family.
             I never wanted to move out of the house that I grew up in. The thought of change and possibly losing the friends I had was unbearable. I became so accustomed to that house and my surroundings that I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. However, we had to sell the house, which my mom had subsequently grew up in as a child, and search for a new house to live in. Looking back on those problematic days, I feel sorry for my dad having to find a new home for us because it was not an easy task; especially when our house would not sell on the market. Now that I think about it today, I'm not really sure what it was about our old house that made me so heartbroken when we moved out. I guess when you are young and you like the way things are you are afraid of change; it's hard to accept that maybe change could be for the best.
             Once we finally sold the old house and bought our new home things started to get a little less hectic. Not that life was easier though because I was now living in a strange house with my father and brothers; without my mother. Although, I did see my mom on occasion, it just wasn't the same.
