Every person has a certain degree of pain that they are trying to cope with on a daily basis. According to Massage Magazine, a bi-monthly magazine first published in 1985 for Massage and bodywork therapists, Americans spend over $50 billion dollars a year to rid themselves of it. Southeaster Career College, located in Nashville, Tennessee, trains individuals on how to apply massage techniques to do just this.
             Southeaster Career College teaches students the skills necessary to begin their careers in entry-level positions in the field of Massage Therapy in such settings as spas, health clinics and cruise ships. In order to be licensed in the State of Tennessee, students are required to complete over 500 hours of study and practice in order to be qualified for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork exam. Part of the course of study is to perform actual massage sessions on actual patients. The school is set up to accommodate such practice.
             The massage clinic is set up on the third floor of a modest pail white West Nashville office building with dark hallways. Without calling for directions, the average pedestrian would not be aware of the miracles of relief that are being performed above. The easiest way to enter the clinic is to use the stairway that was designed as an emergency escape route unless, of course, you wish to wait for what seems to be an hour for the slow and cramped elevator. The lobby of the clinic has the appearance of a waiting room for a dentist's office complete with the tattered six-month old issues of Sports Illustrated and Modern home magazines thrown on the discount office furniture end tables next to the chairs that should have been replaced decades ago.
