Chapter 11 shows that savagery has indeed taken over civilization. Ralph and the remaining boys, who are not part of Jack's tribe, tried to light a fire at the chill of dawn, but the effort was worthless without Piggy's glasses. Piggy was annoyed now and gave Ralph a suggestion to hold an assembly to make a decision about their choices. So, Ralph accepted the suggestion and blew the conch shell. The boys who were not on Jack's side all gathered around Ralph and listened on what he had to say. They all agreed to go to Castle Rock and try to convince Jack to be more reasonable about the glasses.
             Ralph thinks it would be a good idea to take the conch shell to Castle Rock, wishing that it would jolt the warriors' minds of his initial power. They began traveling down the beach, Ralph in front, Samneric behind him and Piggy sagging along behind the twins with his weak, tired eyes holding the conch shell close to his body.
             At Castle Rock, Ralph blew the conch shell and savages appeared like flies. Ralph tried to call a meeting, but the savages muttered and did not budge. Coming from the forest was Jack and his hunters dragging along a dead sow's body. Jack instructed Ralph to leave his site and to return to his own, but Ralph ignored Jack and he ordered him to give Piggy's glasses back. Ralph's temper was fleering up and jack rushed at Ralph and they started to fight. Ralph again tried to convince Jack that the glasses were important to Piggy and the fire is important for rescue. Jack wasn't listening to Ralph's suggestions and ordered the savages to tie up Samneric, just to cause more trouble.
             Once again, Ralph loses his temper and leaped at Jack for their second fight.
