             widow), Delilah (black woman, widow, Mrs. Pullman's housekeeper), Peola (Delilah's daughter
             who looks white), and Jesse (Mrs. Pullman's daughter). In the movie Delilah is looking for a job
             and accidentally ends up at Mrs. Pullman's house who is in need of help to take care of her and
             maintain her husband's business. Delilah offers to help with no pay as long as she and her
             daughter can stay in Mrs. Pullman's home. After eating some of Delilah's family secret
             pancakes, Mrs. Pullman decides to market the product and evidently Mrs. Pullman becomes rich.
             While everything is taking place, Peola is suffering and does not want to accept the fact that she
             is black because being black was seen as being poor and inferior to white Americans, inhumane,
             and uncivilized because of the stereotype associated with race and Jesse is away at college
