Crack Cocaine

He begins with establishing facts about cocaine in the US. Cocaine abuse developed quickly in America in the last decade. Although crack is a much used drug it was first developed in about 1985. Crack is a smokable form of cocaine. Crack is produced by mixing cocaine with water and bicarbonate (baking soda or sodium). Most of the time, crack is smoked using a pipe or cigarette. It is absorbed rapidly through the lungs and produces a high after 6-8 minutes that last around 1 hour. The effects are similar to that of the traditional cocaine only appearing much more rapidly. Many effects of crack cocaine are known; effects such as increased heart rate, pulse, blood pressure, and autonomic stimulation is created. There are also psychological effects such as feelings of stimulation, euphoria, hyperactivity, increased talkativeness, and energy. "Crack" produces most of the adverse neurological, psychiatric, and cardiac effects of cocaine.
             Many problems have become apparent in users. There have been many neurological problems form CNS stimulation, sudden death, psychosis, seizures, and cardiac abnormalities. Many reports of violent, aggressive behavior are a well known outcome of cocaine use. One case, seen in a 25- year- old man, who used freebase twice in the same day showed serious medical consequences. When admitted, his heart was blocked with dyspnea and chest pain. Crack can furthermore has negative effects on the respiratory system. The pulmonary syndrome called "crack lung" will not occur with other types of cocaine administration, many of these cases are seen in children breathing in second hand smoke.
