Hello. I would like to talk to you about something I knew hardly anything about last week. As you are all sitting here eating these foods, What if I were to tell you that what you are eating can one day potentially kill you? That what you are eating is almost as bad as cyanide and rat poisoning. Now I'm sure you are all wondering what I am talking about. These are normal foods you eat all the time. But did you know that most foods contain partially hydrogenated oils which have a bad effect on your health.
Before I can explain why these are bad, you must first learn about hydrogenation. hydrogenation is the passing of hydrogen bubbles through an oil. This makes the oil heavier. Fully hydrogenated oils are solid. But when you don;t hydrogenate the oil all the way you are left with a liquid that has many of the same qualities as butter but is a lot cheaper. This all sounds good but there is still more. Hydrogenated oils contain lots off trans fats which are acctually transformed fatty acids. So like fatty acids they attach to your cell wall, but they do not protect against germs and harmful particles and they also don't let good nutrients and proteins in. So what I am trying to say is that trans fats are poisons. According to Webster's Dictionary, "a poison is anything that interferes with the metabolic processes of life by taking the place of a natural substance that performs a critical function". and that is exactly what they do. They have been known to cause mulitiple sclerosis and allergies that lead to many types of arthritis.
Another thing partially hydrogenated oils do is make you fat. No matter what, you need fatty acids to digest any food, but remember these aren't your normal fatty acids. These have been transformed. They won't allow the good fatty acids into the cells and therefore they just buildup. So basically you need to eat more fats to get the amount that you need, and you still become fatter.
