In Emily Brontes, Wuthering Heights, explores imagery through the supernatural, open and closed doors and windows, and eyes. We met two families, the Lintons and the Earnshaws. The Linton's live at Thrushcross Grange a wonderful and bright place to live, the Earnshaws live at Wuthering Heights, a dark dreary place. Heathcliff and Catherine were thrown together because Catherine's father saw a young boy with no family and brought him home to live at Wuthering Heights. No one liked Heathcliff throughout the story except Mr. Earnshaw who brought Heathcliff home.
             "Terror made me cruel; and fining it useless to attempt shaking the creature off, I pulled its wrist on the broken pane, and rubbed it to and fro till the blood ran down and soaked the bed clothes...." The supernatural is showing up at the beginning of the novel. The ghost is Catherine and she is trying to come through a broken window that Mr. Lockwood breaks out. Catherine only wants to be in the house to haunt Heathcliff because she loves him and always will. Eventually Heathcliff dies or kills him. And he and Catherine are married on New Years. "I encountered a little boy with sheep and two lambs before him; he was crying terribly and I supposed the lambs were skittish......... What is the matter? They's Heathcliff and a woman yonder under t'Nab, I saw nothing."
             Bam, door lock, door open, window shut, window open....... This is an image you see painted and signified throughout Wuthering Heights. Bronte paints this image so that you will se the openness and closed ness throughout the novel. The open and closed doors have provided escapes as well as imprisonment. Catherine locked herself in her bedroom because she was unhappy and wanted to be with Heathcliff. Heathcliff locked young Catherine into a room so she couldn't leave because he wanted her to marry his son Linton. Therefore he would get all of Edgar's estate. Youn
