This creates great tension between these two characters because they are meant to be on the same side but Gregory is turning on him and using his own bawdy comments to insult him back. This leave's Sampson not knowing where he stands with Gregory and to prove that he is willing to fight, he says, ""My naked weapon is out. Quarrel. I will back thee." Not only does this tell us that Sampson will help in the quarrel and that he is as tough as he boasts, but that he still has this crude idea of love being a form of hate when he uses this "naked weapon" expression.
