             Recombinant DNA allows scientists to isolate DNA, transport it to other organisms, and study the effects in the DNA in a new organism. This is done using enzymes to cut the DNA into fragments. The enzymes used are called restriction enzymes, which are those enzymes that selectively recognize and degrade foreign DNA.
