             In order to succeed in a career, good communication skills are essential. Employers look for prospective employees who are articulate. Communication is one of the ways that colleagues build trust and respect among one another. Communicating well can help to solve problems in a constructive manner. Good communicators listen well, speak intelligently, and write concisely.
             Listening well differs from just plain listening because a listener knows how to pay attention and can note the main ideas of the discussion. Listening will can help the listener sense the emotional trouble spots. Listening well helps to focus and understand the topics. Someone who is just plain listening does not pay attention, cannot note the main ideas, or sense emotional trouble spots. Good listeners make sure they understand what was said by repeating key ideas.
             In order to speak well, the speaker needs to be able to speak clearly and know the subject matter. Speaking well will also help the speaker get your point across to the listener. Knowing what is or is not appropriate to say will help the speaker avoid emotional issues. Good body language can be essential to the reaction being received by your audience. Having good eye contact lets a person feel like you are speaking directly to them. A good speaker speaks in terms that everyone can understand. No one will listen to a topic when the speaking is monotone or seems uninterested in the topic they are speaking about.
             Writing concisely helps the reader understand what is being written. A good writer uses good grammar and gets right to the point. Today's companies are looking for employees who can listen, write well, and show good communication skills. Being able to communicate well within a business helps enhance any career.
