             at San Antonio, forced General Cos and his army out of Texas. This event
             angered Santa Anna, who eagerly wanted to seek for revenge. He led an army of
             several thousand troops into Texas and was determined to suppress the Texans. He
             separated his army into two fragments, ordering a portion of troops under the
             command of Jose Urrea to head toward Goliad, while Santa Anna held the rest of
             the troops headed toward San Antonio (53).
             Meanwhile, at the Alamo, Lieutenant Colonel Neill, Colonel Bowie and Colonel
             Travis ignored Sam Houston's order to destroy the Alamo, because "â€Houston
             saw very early that the main fighting should take place in the eastern wooded
             area" (Pohl 7). Since these colonels were very fond of the thick walls and the
             artilleries, they remained at the Alamo. When Santa Anna's army arrived, they
