The unknown truth Regarding Hamlet

In the play "Hamlet", by William Shakespear, one finds that the themes present are appearance versus reality, the finality of death, and sanity versus insanity.

At the beginning of the play one finds that Hamlet plots to play the role of being crazy. He does this in order to find out if Claudius truly murdered his father, Hamlet Senior. The reality of it is that Hamlet is not crazy, he is just playing a role. Another example of appearance versus reality is the relationship between Polonius and Claudius. It appears that Polonius controls Claudius, but once Polonius is out of the picture you see who the real master mind is.

Death is constantly being brought up in this play. Hamlet ponders the finality of it in the last Act with the grave diggers scene and he also ponders death at the beginning of the play. Hamlet goes around in circles about Polonus' body being dinned on, and then he goes on to call Claudius, in an elaborate manner, a worm.

Hamlet pretends to have lost his mind throught out the play. Although latter on in the play he turns into what he has played at. A mad man. He ruthlessly sends Rosncratz and Guildenstern to be killed and he also sends Ophelia over the edge. In a way Ophelia acts out Hamlets madness. If you also take a closer look at Ophelia you notice that she was sane at one point, but due to Hamlet she lost her mind.
