"Here comes Miss World Pageant 2004...." Tens of thousands of people are sitting in the dining room, staring at the television and waiting anxiously for the result of the beauty contest while the broadcasting company is having an ideal income from the floods of advertisement. I'm sure a majority of people would be upset if beauty contests are banned. Though some of its shortcomings have been raised recently, I'm sure it brings far more pros than cons.
Some societies, groups and even individuals have been complaining that beauty contests are an exploitation of women. Contestants with bikinis are walking on the stage, which is seen as an insu tto women. Well, if this is so, I would really want to know why so many women all over the world are willing to wear bikinis or een in their naked body, go to swimming pools and beaches to be insulted. No one forces them to go on stage and join the contest, riht? Obviously, they are doing so because they are confident with their body and proud of it but not because they enjoy to be insulted.
Besides, why should beauty contests be banned when its having such a large group of fans? Beauty contest is a oopular show all over the world. As long as there is an adequate demand, beauty contests should be kept supplied.
Some are against the staging of beauty contests because they see it s an excuse used by men to look at semi-naked, seducing and beautiful women. I personally could never come to an agreement with such people. The fans of beauty contests spread among different age groups, including both sexes. Not only men, even women love to watch beauty contests. Plus, I'm sure it's a lot mroe convenient, easy and straight forward for men to go to swimming pools or beaches to look at semi-naked or even naked women thatn to wait for the beauty contest which is held annually. It's just human nature to look at beautiful things, isn't it?
