Identifying personal world views

h persons world view derives from a foundational, basic beliefs systems, attitudes, values and perceptions of reality, which all influence our world view, our understanding of ourselves and of others. In addition to this, Hobson, (2004), Leffin, (2004), Rogers (1996), Samovar and Porter, (2004) imply an underlying theme of the importance of becoming aware of our world views and the control each person has to transform and impact upon this developing view. Rather than allowing a world view to be constructed or influenced with no conscious reflection, especially when questions of human existence, life altering decisions and the way in which we choose to live our lives and interrelated with others, rests in our own concept of a world view.
             In defining my personal worldview, I agree with these definitions that it is an overall out look of life, the world, and my 'self' in it. I am in agreement with all who suggest that the foundations of my world view rest in my basic belief system which encapsulates my values, morals, ethics, attitudes and questions pertaining to the meaning and purpose of my life. These are attributed to major influences such as my religion, the culture in which I have grown up, my family upbringing and my socio-economic class. I believe that that my worldview is always in a process of development but to understand how I have gained my current worldview I would like to discuss these main influences, particularly those relating to my beliefs and attitude
