"Even the most sadistic and destructive man is human, as human as the saint."(Erich Fromm, 267) One might feel that this is very true since everyone is human, everyone makes mistakes and learns from them like humans. Like stated in the book I also feel that modern role make us give up our individuality. For example is one day a professor started swearing and dancing on the tables in the classroom his educational career would presently be over. This means that he is playing a role while he is in the classroom. What role you should portray is all dependant upon what culture you live in. A culture is "a program of shared rules that govern the behavior of members of a community or society, and a set of values, beliefs, and attitudes shared by most members of that community.
             Social cognition is "an area in social psychology concerned with social influences on thought, memory, perception, and other cognitive processes." (Carole Wade, 276) This is how we portray the way we see other people's thoughts, beliefs, and relationship values. Attitudes is another thing we look at when evaluating other people. Some people take other peoples attitudes well when talking about movies and sports, but when talking about such things as politics and religion people speak very strongly about what they believe in and don't care what other people think. They want to get other people to believe what they believe. They will try to give them example and try to persuade them to join them in whatever they are arguing about. Conformity is also another thing people do when talking about opinions. It is when people get a lot of group pressure to do or believe in something that they wouldn't do or believe normally. An extreme kind of conformity is called groupthink. This is when tendency to think alike and suppress dissent.
