Organizational Anaylsis

             Perception by definition means the act, power or process of perceiving (Landau, 2002, p.537). If you believe in your mind that something is the way it is, no one can tell you that you are wrong for thinking that way. This is what perception is. Throughout my career, I would always think that no matter how I expressed myself, what I said really did not matter. I can remember always going on and on about how bad things were at my job but I never did anything to change the way things were. After taking this course, three concepts that have changed my perception of the organization that I belong to are the responsibility of the corporation to the community in which it operates, the ethical issues that the corporation must address and the employee-employer relationship.
             When a business has a good relationship with its community, the success of the community's quality of life is affected in a positive way. If the community is successful, the business then becomes successful. I feel that the corporation does have a social responsibility to the community. Since they are operating in the community, they should provide jobs for the people in the area. They should establish community relations offices to coordinate community programs, manage donations of goods, and encourage employee volunteerism (Lawerence, A., Post, J., Weber, J., 2001, p. 171). The officers of the community relations offices should work closely with corporations to ensure that the needs of both the corporation and community are being meet. I understand now that with the involvement of these corporations with the communities is very important. I feel that corporations should become more involved with issues such as educational reform and improving the lives of the people that live in the community.
