Truth according to my sister, who will be a sophomore at the University of Georgia, is objective. Through the past two years my sister's faith has really taken flight and she sees things through different eyes. She accepts the fact that there is a greater power than her own and she is subject to his truth and to follow him diligently. When asked about how she knows it is the truth and how she can accept something that she can not fully prove, she smirks and replies, "I have faith, is that not enough?" I asked how her faith can be enough and she said that in time I will come to understand that faith and a little hope can be enough.
             Katie said that truth, she admits, is subjective to her when it is convenient. Like when she is fighting with someone, to tell them that they are wrong she states a truth she believes is true, but really it is only true to her. When the truth is subjective, she said that it is in the eye of the beholder. For example, if you were to have and hold up a blank sheet of paper in front of you, you would say it is blank. How are you to know though that there are is not a mark on the other side of the paper if you do not turn it around.
             Katie takes truth objectively when she is talking, learning about the faith and sciences. She knows that everything she knows about our Lord is due in large part to the bible and other traditional sources that had the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and the guiding hand of God. She knows that gravity is objective, because yes it can be proven, but not everyone fully understands it. It is also objective because God is a trinity. No one can prove this and make it fully known that God is truly a trinity, but we can know this based on tradition, teachings and readings. The church and its leaders are hard core on the teachings of the trinity and the truth of the Holy Spirit.
