In day two Hamlet starts out with Polonius thinking Hamlet is mad because Ophelia did something wrong. Rosencratz and Guildenstern meet with Claudius and he tells them about Hamlet being crazy. Gertrude asks them to meet with Hamlet. Polonius says he knows the source of Hamlet's craziness. Gertrude thinks its Hamlet's father's death and her marriage to Claudius. Meanwhile, Young Fort tricked his uncle to give him money to attack Demark.
To prove his reasoning of Hamlet's madness, Polonius has Ophelia read a letter from Hamlet to Claudius and Gertrude. Polonius says that because he wouldn't let Ophelia be with Hamlet, Hamlet went through rough emotions and it led him to madness. Polonius sees Hamlet reading and decides to talk to him. Hamlet speaks nonsense to ensure he is crazy.
In the next scene Hamlet's friends, Rosencratz and Guildenstern visit him to find out any clues to why Hamlets gone mad. Hamlet talks about how the place is beautiful but he still feels it brings him nothing. Hamlet also talks about how the children theater angers him.
Visitors come and tell the story of Priam in where the actor begins to cry, which bothers Hamlet. Hamlet has the idea to insert lines of his father's betrayal into the play. He then goes to an empty room and starts screaming vengeance. He believes Claudius might confess the murder during the play. When Claudius is alone, he confesses the murder of King Hamlet.
Hamlet is alone looking in the mirror. He speaks of considering suicide. The only thing stopping him is what is to come. Ophelia comes into the room and returns the letter he wrote to her. He believes this is a set up and that people are spying on him. He flips out and knocks the letters out of her hand and looks for people spying. He does not find anyone, even though Polonius was. Although Hamlet threw Ophelia around, he still cares for her and vice-versa.
