(Kovach and Rosenstiel pg. 37) When Lyndon Johnson sent Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara to Vietnam to find out what was really going on there, McNamara reported to America through several press conferences overseas that everything was going well. However a couple years later, secret documents were found compiled with information of how McNamara really felt about the war and what he really reported back to President Johnson.
