I love Autumn. In autumn there is the beginning of school, the long awaited for football games, marching contests, the endless meetings, and the minimum wage jobs. This is the beginning of the end for most High School students, these seniors who have dedicated the past four years of their life will be leaving to go out and make the world a little better. Many will pursue their education and reach their goals of life, and then, some will not even be able to dream about any further education than what they were forced to attend. For those fortunate enough to pursue their education, hopefully, they will make a positive difference for this world.
Now focusing back on the present times, we all look forward to the thrilling football games, the close wins and the sad losses. These football games took up every Friday for about ten weeks and, being in the band, I had to go to every one, not that I'm complaining or anything. It's sad because these games are the last of our High School careers. These games brought all of us seniors closer together because we know these are the last. I'm sure everyone loves half-time, everyone is either eating or they are watching the High School bands march. Believe it or not, but marching is a huge fine arts event in the state of Texas, and many of us found this out when we battled it out at the State level.
Then...there were meetings, upon meetings: NHS, Project Graduation, Senior Class Meetings, etc. And of course we did not want to be there, we wanted to be with our friends, catching up on old times and having fun. These meetings, though boring, really opened our eyes a little to the reality of life. The counselor meetings of having to choose where you want to apply for college and the numerous and stressful applications for scholarships opened my eyes to the possibilities of what jobs were out there and what I want to strive for, for the rest of my life.
