Macbeth: A Triangle Of Responsibility
             In my analysis of William Shakespeare's play Macbeth, I found that there were three important factors that destroyed the character Macbeth. The main reason for his downfall is his own ambition. However, two other factors played a key role in sending him down the path of destruction, the prophecies of the three witches' telling him he would become king and the influence of his wife Lady Macbeth who also has strong ambitions of her own.
             Macbeth is illustrated as a strong courageous soldier who is loyal to the king. He is described as an honorable and admired man. But within his character there is a flaw that will lead to his destruction, it is ambition. After a prophecy from three witches that tell Macbeth he is to become king, his ambition becomes overwhelming, thus putting him onto a path of deceit and murder.
             Although in the beginning, Macbeth does not act on the prediction of the witches. He later begins to have ideas about how he can become king after his ambitions about being great overwhelm him. Not only did the witch's prophecies begin its corruption process in him, Lady Macbeth begins to influence him after reading a letter about the predictions. After reading the letter, Lady Macbeth starts to tell her husband that he deserves to be the king. She begins to pressure him about the predictions and create in him a sense of weakness if he does not follow the prophecies of the witches. She instructs him that the only way for him to get what he deserves is to kill Duncan and become king, as he should be. Macbeth gives into the influence of Lady Macbeth and commits the heinous acts of killing Duncan and several other innocent people including his best friend Banquo.
             It appears that the witches are responsible for the path that Macbeth takes. However,
             they are only responsible for the information. They do not direct his or Lady Macbeth's path ...
