             After being wounded in April 1917, Sassoon was sent back to England. While recovering at a hospital in England, Sassoon met two other poets, Robert Graves, and Wilfred Owen. After experiencing the war first hand, this seemed to be the only thing that was on his mind at this time. His experiences had a great influence on his poetry that is famous to this day. Most of Sassoon’s poems about the war had come after he had been released from the hospital.
             One of the famous works he wrote after the war was "The Kiss." This was a very patriotic poem that reminded him of how he felt when he first joined the Army. In this poem, Sassoon explained that he would do anything to protect his country. Towards the end, he said that he die not want any reward for fighting, but only wanted to spend his life on this sacred land. Another one of Sassoon’s famous poems is called "Suicide in the Trenches." This was a post-war poem that showed his strong feelings toward trench warfare.
