             There is no need for an unarmed man to be shot and killed. Police are
             supposed to be trained to handle situations with unarmed perpetrators so he or she
             doesn't have to fire his or her weapon unnecessarily. If a weapon does have to be
             fired the person shouldn't be caused to die from it.
             In my opinion the police force has gotten more brutal with pedestrians
             every year. They have no respect for the life of the citizens that walk the streets of
             New York. The killing of Patrick Dorismond was totally unnecessary. He was
             unarmed. Police official's say and have promised to give a full and fair
             investigation. How can the police promise a fair investigation when on of their
             Police Commissioner Howard Safir raised the issue of temperament was
             raised within hours of the shooting. How can people trust the police if the man
             that controls what they do tryst to make excuses when on of his men makes an
             obvious mistake. Yet made no comment on Detective Vasquez's departmental
             disciplinary history. Giuliani commended Detective Vasquez as a distinguished
             officer who " put his life on the line in the middle of the night to protect the safety
             and security of this city." Yet Giulliani didn't say why a man has to look around
             in case there is a trigger happy detective walking around in the middle of the night.
             Al Sharpton portrayed Vasquez as a hotheaded officer who was quick to
             assume the worst about a black man. I myself wouldn't exactly say that. I pretty
             sure that the police department doesn't give these officers the right discipline. I
             suppose they make the officers feel superior as to where they feel they can do
             anything the please, which is not the case. Past cases have pretty much shown that
             officers can pass the wrong judgment and pretty much get no disciplinary action
