In "Death of Darwinism" author George Sim Johnston states that there is controversy over the evolutionary theory of Darwin, not the concept of evolution. Speaking on this topic, Johnston tries to point out some of the problems with Darwin's theory of evolution by giving other scientist views and views of his own.
             Johnston uses an antagonistic Rhetoric style by presenting Darwin's theories, then breaks them down and counters them. Johnston first starts out by presenting Darwin's main theory of natural selection. He then gives an experiment of Darwin's that involved the select breeding of pigeons. Darwin based part of his theory of natural selection from this experiment claiming that all forms of life came from a single organism at the beginning of time. Johnston argues the fact that Darwin only observed micro-evolution. Micro-evolution is small changes that happen to a species over time. Johnson agrees that micro-evolution takes place, but, what he disagrees with the fact that Darwin relies on the theory that a build up of micro-eveloution results in macro-evolution. Macro-evolution is relatively large jumps in evolution such as amebas to reptiles to mammals.              Johnston claims that if Darwin's theories were correct that there should be fossils to prove it. This Meaning that there should be slight changes between the early species fossils and later species fossils. Fossil records find that within a certain species there are slight changes then that species disappears (99 out of 100 are extinct) instead of evolving into a new species.
