After reading all ten of the cultural myths I feel that the myth of materiel success strongly influences our popular culture. This myth basically states that in America hard work leads to good fortune, which results in money, fame, and power for the individual. Most people in our society feel that the more expensive stuff they have makes themselves worth more. These people believe that the poor are just lazy, though the poor working just as hard as the rich, just without all the success. Also people believe that if they do not own a lot of expensive stuff then they will be worth less. But this is not true.
             Every person in this world is out to make money. Without money most people feel that they would be worth nothing. So this myth of materiel success makes them work harder so that they do make money and they do become somewhat successful. Every single kid in this world has a dream of being very successful and making tons of money. As the kids grow into adults and start to get through college they start to look for the job that will pay them the most. This myth influences people to want to make money. It gives them something to aim for, a goal to become the best that they can be. It makes them work as hard as they can. Though it might take them their whole life to reach that particular goal. For some people, they may never reach that goal. They will work hard in everything that they do and still have nothing to show for it.
             I truly believe that the myth of materiel success strongly influences our popular culture. It gives people the push to strive for success. So all people in this world are competing with each other to make the most money and gain the most fame. It is kind of like one huge contest, whoever makes the most money wins. It seems that in our society today money is everything and without you are nothing.
