Aids

My topic is about AIDS and the HIV virus. My article explains how the immune cells come back when the HIV drugs have been no longer given to
the patient. The scientist in my article have discovered that given a break in medication. The immune system may have a chance to fight against the HIV and AIDS virus. This is a very interesting discovery.
In this discovery, there were some patients who had decided to interrupt their complex HIV drug schedules. In doing this two kinds of the immune cells came back for a while to battle the virus. Teams of scientist at the Wistar Institute say that taking a break from HIV medication can be risky and unwise. But this brings about the argument, What if the patients were carefully watched and controlled? At first dismissed by mainstream AIDS researchers, the idea of regularly interrupting HIV treatment is winning favor. In this treatment, with structured treatment interruption, a patient stops taking drugs for a while so the virus may come back and may bring about an immune reaction. The patients also like being off the drugs, which must be taken on a strict time schedule and also have side effects ranging from diarrhea to serious metabolic disorders. In some cases the patients immune system is doing so well the can stay off for months at a time.
A man named Luis Montaner and his colleagues wanted to test this idea, but where not allowed to start a formal study, which would have meant assigning people to stop treatment. This was something they were not at liberty to do. So, the found 10 patients who had decided to stop taking the drugs on their own. Five decided it was time for a break, and five had stopped taking the drugs or had never taken them. Montaner discussed how much he and his team monitored how much virus was in the patients' blood. And how they watched their immune system responses in the September issue of the Journal of Infectious Diseases. Other studies have shown that,...
