tanzas and all in quatrain for the exception of the third and forth stanza which are a six-line and two-line stanzas. Strategy that I believe was done to bring attention to those particular stanzas. The first stanza shoes the female speaker being picked up by Death in a kindly way. The speaker's serenity and passiveness at what is happening is not only shown by the pauses that she uses as form but also through the personification of Death. The poem begins with a comment of Death's politeness in stopping for her. She is talking about the whole situation almost as if Death were a gentleman caller picking her up
