The principal of General Brown High School was wrong to remove eighteen individuals from their sports teams for attending a party.
             During the winter sports season of 2000, principal Steve Vigliotti removed eighteen athletes from their teams/squads for attending a party that had alcoholic beverages at it. He said that you are "guilty by association" and he had no choice but to react in drastic measures.
             Since the principal or any other faculty or staff from the school was at the party they had no concrete proof that everyone attending the party was drinking alcoholic beverages. It is hard to believe that everyone accused was guilty, but since you are "guilty by association" says Vigliotti that must mean that everyone there was breaking the pledge of the school. It is true that not everyone who attended was caught. The principal went by word of mouth in his decision. He called everyone into his office one by one and questioned him or her by a list of names. If you said yes for a name he assumed that that person was guilty. This method was very inconsistent; there was no way he knew for sure the guilty from the innocent. The principal told everyone that he did the same thing when he was in high school and he wasn't proud of it. He had to deal with the consequences just like the students accused had to. This was all happening in the middle of the winter sports season. !
             Basketball players, cheerleaders, and wrestlers were forced to leave their teams and not play in any more games for the rest of the year. This
             caused chaos, the team's seasons were ruined. All the time and money put into pre-season, tournaments, and practices was wasted by the bogus investigation put on by the school administration. It was definitely an unfair and wrong outcome, for those who did no wrong.
