Should sport be compulsory?

Should sport be compulsory? I think so. Sport has many social and health benefits for everyone. And should education only be based on academic things? NO!
There are many health benefits to be gained from participating in sport. Since children have to run a lot in most sports, the children will drop their weight if they run a lot. And if children are over weighted, they have a very high chance of getting diabetes. Then their life will be ruined forever.
Children with social problems will make friends easier in sport. It is because in sport, nobody does all the work. They have to work like a team and when children do that they make friends. And if a school has a competition with permanent teams, children on the same team will stay as friends. It is much easier for children to make friends in sport than sitting in class.
Non-academic education is also very important. After four days of hard academic work, children deserve time-out for an hour or so. Also as children have had some fun, they will be in a better mood and will work harder. Fit and healthy children may be more energetic in their work and generally more motivated. As I'm a child, I know.
Make sport compulsory because it has so many health and social benefits. And it is cruel to only let children work all day and not have sport. As the saying goes, All work no play makes Jack a dull boy.
