Yemen is located on the southeaster corner of the Arabian peninsula, with Saudi Arabia
             to the north, Oman to the east, the Red Sea to the west, and the Arabian sea to the south.
             The name Yemen comes from Al Jumhuriyah al Yamaniyah.
             The climate is hot and humid on the West coast and temperate in the western
             mountains. The east is a desert. terrain in Yemen is mountainous with many ridges and
             valleys. This gives it many micro climates. The North is agriculturally rich. There are
             upland desert plains in the center.
             Some of Yemen's major exports include crude oil, cotton, coffee hides,
             vegetables, and dried and salted fish. A land once self-sufficient now depends on imports
             for almost all of its essential needs. The land once used for growing food is now used to
             grow quat, a shrub whose leaves are chewed for their stimulant effect, which has no
             The population of Yemen is devised mainly of four religious groups, Muslims,
             Jews, Christians, and Hindus. The Sunnite Muslims and the Zaidi Muslims are quite
             different culturally and have disagreed on various issues.
             Yemen has a republic form of government in which there is a five-member
             Presidential Council, including the president and vice president; a 301-member House of
             Representatives; and a Council of Ministers, appointed by the president and headed by a
             prime minister. The legal system is based on both tribal and Islamic law. People are free,
             and if you are 18 years or older your are allowed to vote.
