My detailed Bible Study on Salvation
Salvation is simply a gift of God. It is the eternal redemption of your soul. It is a promise of the Lord that you will reside with Him in heaven once this life is over as opposed to spending it in hell.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Romans 3:23,24
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.John 3:16
All have sinned and whosoever believeth gives an indication that every single person needs salvation. God desires that nobody goes to hell, but at the same time He know that many, too many will. It is really sad that people will perish when the gift of salvation is free and availible to all. Jesus paid the price for us:
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. Acts 20:28
And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Rev 7:14
We are bought by the blood of Christ. The cost of our salvation has been paid. Now all we have to do is allow the Lord to save us. Many people claim to "have found the Lord" when in fact all that happened is that they stopped hiding from Him!
Now to say there are steps to salvation is claimed by some to mean there are things we have to do and thus we somehow earn our salvation. This is not the truth. The steps are progressive movements in a person's life from sinner to saved Christian. These steps are often referred to in the scriptures and I will referance them as each is described.
