World War two

             55 years on, memories of World War 2
             World 2 is one of the most tragic event ever occur in the human history. Fifty-Five years has past since, today we look back into history with Mr.M.Blakeney James who was eleven at the time of war and now seventy years old retired aerospace engineer.
             War was declared on Germany on September 3 1939. At the time he live at Clive Lane, Filton, about five miles north of the center of Bristol. The first thing that Mr.M.Blakeney noticed was that platoons of soldiers were marching up and down the main road and a barrage balloon were set up in the home farm. At school there were issued with gas masks contained in a card board boxes about six inches cube with a piece of string large enough to carry over their shoulder. The kids were given instructions on how to wear them and maintains. Mr. Blakeney can remember the when for the first time a air raid alarm sounded and initially he did not took much notice of it. Pretty soon after it, the Anderson shelters were distributed among the community. The Anderson shelters were large iron structures that are designed to half submerge from the garden ground. It was part of the governments civil emergence plan. This kind of shelter was not particularly successful as that most times th!
             ey are half full of water and very few were actually in use.
             Through out the war there were many bombing raids, but there is one that Mr.M.Blakeney will always remember. On September 25 1940, German air force waved its largest bombing raid in Bristol. At the time Mr.M.Blakeney was home from school at summer holiday, he and his little brother were just going to the park to relax. It was around midday and the sky was clear blue, just then the air raid siren sounded, and being very used to them when not much ever happened during the day, the continued walking.
