what are facts, opinion, or detailed information?

Question: What are facts, opinion, or detailed information, and how can they be used in writing paragraphs?
Facts, opinion, and detailed information are specific details about a certain subject. Facts are true and can be proven, as opposed to opinion, which is what someone thinks. An opinion might also be a fact, but if there is no proof, it is still considered an opinion.
Often in a classroom where students are learning to write paragraphs, students can be given a topic sentence for which they must write five to seven detail sentences. For example, students might be given the sentence, "In school this year, we have learned a lot." This is a very broad sentence as the topic sentence is supposed to be. Students then take the sentence and write some detail sentences about it.
In school this year, we learned a lot. We studied animals for three weeks. We learned that nocturnal animals only come out at night. We also learned about mammals and egg-laying animals. The mammals feed their young from their bodies, and the babies are born alive from the mother. Egg-laying animals are born from eggs. I like to study animals.
All of the sentences in this paragraphs are facts (can be proven true) except the last sentence, which is opinion. However, every other sentence contains detailed information about that particular topic sentence.
