I do think that lack of employment and poverty are the biggest if not the main reason for all of the crimes in this country. The reason why a man goes out to sell drugs to his own people is because he needs the money to either feed his children or to just help his family. And because he doesn't have the education to do any thing else he's like trapped in that world until something happened that dramatically could change his life.
             I say "his life" because it's still customary in this country for the man to be the bread winner in the family. Especially in minorities and families that have been poor for most if not all their lives.
             I don't really know about the elderly getting arrested for drug use though, no one really bothers the elderly. If a cop sees and old man smoking weed or sniffing cocaine they are not goanna really care as much. And that's only because no one wants to have people joke on him or her for arresting some ones grand father because he was smoking or doing drugs.
             So yes I think that as time goes on and the need for education becomes more necessary in the job market and if men continue to not want to better them selves there will be a bigger increase of unemployment and increase in crimes.
