             The common daytime soap opera reels in the bored stay-at-home parent, the easily influenced summer teen audience, and the night time worker catching their dose of "excitement" before they head off to work by taking everyday life and spicing it up. Finding one's true love. Plotting against your son's ex-wife. Stealing your best friend's significant other. Having a secret affair with your employer. Finding out the person of your dreams is really your long lost sibling. Combine all of these dubious plots into one hour of pure entertainment a day you will create a story line as addicting and powerful as any drug. In some ways, soaps create the unattainable perfect life that would be the envy of any normal person.
             To further reel in attraction, these perplexing plots are stretched over months, the resolution only being reached weeks after the climax. This leaves viewers on the edge of their seats wanting more now but having to return the next day. By some strange miracle, writers can drag one sentence of your favorite character over two or more days. What normal person can walk away from the TV when a gorgeous star is about to tell the two girls who love him which one intends to marry.
