the adventures of huck fin

Should the book The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn be banished in schools for it's racial content? There have been arguments about this question for years and in different parts of the world. Many people think this story deals with mature topics and is prejudice against the black race. Then again, some people think that it teaches young kids lessons about life and how the world used to be in the late 1800's.
My position on this is that this book should not be banned in schools. For many years the black race has fought for their right to be free. They have endured many injustices and have experienced the indignity of slavery. In the book Huck Finn, Jim was a slave owned by Mrs. Watson. She treated him fairly well, except for when she was thinking about selling him down to New Orleans. When Jim found out that he might be sold, he had to run away because he knew that if he were to be sold, he would be very far away from his family and never be able to find them and buy their freedom. Being a slave, Jim was never really beaten or abused because there was no one there to do it. Mrs. Watson and the widow were not violent people so they would never beat Jim and they were growing quite fond of him. In the story Jim is a fatherly figure to Huck because he never had a caring father. Huck's father was usually drunk and when he wasn't, he hardly paid any attention to him or was neve!
In this book, there are a lot of unnecessary things that were said that are considered racial, but that was a way of life back then. When a white guy called a black guy a "nigger", there was no problem with it. Now a days, if someone called a black person a nigger they would probably get really offended. People who would ban "Huckleberry Finn" simply for the on the surface racial content are no better than the character of Miss Watson. The idea of banning a book and not teaching it to others is selfish a
