             Soccer is an enjoyable sport that is easy to learn. It is a game that takes a lot of skill to master and at the same time, is enjoyed by players of all talent levels and abilities. It is played all over the world and is a very competitive sport. Another great aspect of soccer is how easy it is to pick up and quickly become a contender. There are some basic rules to soccer that one should know if they want to learn the game and play effectively.
             The main rules of soccer are very easy to follow. There are two teams with eleven players a side. Each team also has a goaltender defending their team's goal. They play on a field marked with lines that form a large rectangular boundary. The field is divided by a centerline, has four corner flags, and has two netted goals opposite each other. The players must keep the ball within the field's lines to continue play. If the ball is brought out of bounds by a team then their opponents are awarded a throw-in, which is the only time a player can touch the ball with his hands. The only other person that can touch the ball with his hands is the goaltender and this advantage is limited to an eighteen-yard box that surrounds his goal. There are two forty-five-minute halves in a game with a five-minute break at halftime. To win the game your team has to have more goals scored than your challengers within the allotted ninety minutes of play. To score a goal you must put the ball through the opposition's goal posts and completely past the end line. In soccer, there are four referees that monitor the game to make sure the conduct of the players is legal. There is one main office that runs with the players watching for fouls and misconduct, he can overrule any call and is the final decision if controversy arises.
