Sigourney Weaver's portrayal of the estranged First Lady was superb. Although her only reason for staying with the president and forgoing children was the belief that she could somehow manage to help the poor, the homeless, the abandoned children, she is still full of control and conviction. Well, Dave and Ellen are obviously perfect for each other as they eventually set out to right the wrongs of the Mitchell administration.
             Of course, my favorite character would have to be the conniving White House Chief of Staff Bob Alexander. For me, he is the embodiment of how cruel and scheming some politicians can be. He is so manipulative and above all, selfish. Most candidates are already powerful, and are simply seeking more power. They view getting elected as more of an accomplishment, and they care more about themselves than those they represent. Although I was awed at his evil plan of gaining control, people like him don't deserve to be in service of the public.
             I also liked the character of White House Communications Director Alan Reed. He seems spineless but we see him go from one side to the other. He goes from bad to good as he schemes with Bob Alexander and later decides to do otherwise.
