In the story Mary Meban you come to realize how much racism effects society effects how not only the way we view our selves, but also how we view other people. The story also shows now idiotic the idea of racism is, especially internal racism is what the story mainly deals. Internal racism is so hypocritical in it's self-the way person with whom you share a common thread of life can be treated so differently. Yet, this story show just how hypocritical the world can be.
             I believe that all racism is actually just fear and anger not being expressed in the right manor. However what amazes me most about the idea of racism with in your own race is How can fear cause hatred someone or cause you to look at upon someone as being not as good as you based on looks. Even though they are same as you this is the main problem in my mind with internal racism and racism. It is somewhat understandable to be afraid of someone different than you but how could you hear that which you are so much alike. How can you hate someone for being black when you are black yourself it doesn't make sense.
             The way in the story in which Mary is in internal turmoil because of the racism. At the point in time in which the story takes place racism is at a turning point around the sixties and seventies black movement begins to show in American society. Yet this movement seen to cause also rifts or gaps in the black community as well as others races of the time. Its seems as if the racism and stereotypes of Th e times appear to rub off on the people in the story.
             The 0000 wife in the story just can't believe that Mary made the best score out of her case entrance exams she accuses Mary of cheating. Al though the story it seems as if there are so many obstacles for Mary to over come for people of her owns race.
