Most Influential Person of Canada in 2004
Michael Moore has influenced Canadian society more than any other individual this year. Through the use of his highly controversial films, he has managed to catch the attention of countless Canadian youths. Many people have attempted to get North American teens interested in the political process and international affairs, but no one has had an impact on the masses quite like Moore has in these recent years.
Most notably has been the release of his latest award winning film "Fahrenheit 9/11". You many not agree with what Moore has to say in the film, but you have to admit he knows how to get people talking. Which is what he claims to have been his goal. He has given teenagers the opportunity to step out of their self-centered milieu, question authority, and stop accepting the world at face value, which we so desperately needed. Since the young men and women of today will someday be the leaders of the world, it is important that we understand the full scope of our planet and its significant issues.
Michael Moore has strong ties to our county. He was raised in Flint, Michigan. But made many trips to our country, and has had only good things to say. He got his first big break in Toronto with his first Documentary "Roger & Me". Since then he has written many best selling books, had a successful couple seasons on the small screen, and created many more award winning documentaries.
