the removal from school ("Sir Isaac Newton", ONLINE).
Isaac Newton entered Trinity College at Cambridge University by the urgency by his uncle William Ayscough ("Newton, Sir Isaac", Biographical Encyclopedia of Mathematicians, 394). Newton attended Cambridge for a law degree but he turned out to be very different. While Newton was in college, the philosophy of the college was dominated by the philosophy of Aristotle. Later on there was more freedom of study during his third year of college, because of this he began to study the philosophy of Descartes, Gassendi, and Boyle. The new analytical geometry of Viete, Descartes, Wallis, and the mechanics of the Copernican astronomy of Galileo attracted him also. Newton's talent began to grow at the arrival of Barrow to the Lucasian chair at Cambridge ("Sir Isaac Newton", ONLINE). Isaac Barrow began to recognize him and soon he became the tutor for Isaac Newton. Under the teaching of Isaac Barrow Isaac Newton began to show his great intellect. Isaac Newton won a mathematical scholarship !
in 1664 and he graduated in 1665 after his tutor Isaac Barrow resigned. Isaac Newton then took his position ("Newton, Sir Isaac", Biographical Encyclopedia of Scientists, 980).
Later in 1665, the bubonic plague reached Cambridge. Since the Plague reached the University, they shut down the school and the population dispersed to help control the spread of the Plague. Newton then returned home to Woolsthorpe and hand he stayed there until the end of March 1666. During this time, Newton had continual thought and this time allowed him to complete work on some of the most groundbreaking scientific achievements in history ("Newton, Sir Isaac", Biographical Encyclopedia of Scientists, 980).
During this period, Newton developed calculus, the law of gravity, his three laws of motion, several properties of optics, and the invention of the reflecting telescop...
