I am having a hard living here in England
             so I need to move,I can not afford it. Life was
             pretty tough over here. I want to try to
             go over to Jamestown, because I heard that I can
             have a good living over there. I went go over
             and they told me that the only way I can get
             taken to Jamestown and live there is if I work
             for them for a couple years. So I agreed to work
             for some farmers on there farm. They told me
             that I had to go on the ship called the May-
             Flower. I would be called an Indentured Servant
             and that was the only way I would be able to
             pay my passage to Jamestown.I told them my
             name, Richard, and they did not care.
             I am on my way to Jamestown and I Know the
             work is going to be hard. I am Going to be
             working for this man named Captain John Smith
             and I heard this guy works you really hard.
             Well, Life is going okay over here. It isn't
             as bad as England. I have been working every
             single day to pay off my passage. I think I
             am going to skip work tomorrow because I need
             a break. I have been doing really good with
             my work so I think John Smith will let me
             The next day after I skipped work, I went
             up to Captain John Smith and I asked him
             for my pay and he told me that I don't get a
             pay for the day I skipped.I have to work every day
             without taking any days off. He told me his
             little modo that if you do not work for me
             you do not get any food from me. I did not
             know that. Now I knew that I had to work
             every day.During this time there was a lot
             of Firsts going on at this time. There was
             the First Legislature which makes laws.
             Then there was the First Women and there
             was the First Blacks. The First Legislature
             was in the House of Burgesses. Back to the
             subject, Ihave been working for about four
             years now and the farmer came up to that
             I worked for told me that my passage was
             paid for and I could live like a regular person....
