Racism : A thought or belief that one race is better than another race.
How anyone can believe that they are better than any person makes me feel
dumbfounded. If we were all created equal, what seems to be the problem?
Another human being is made of the same bone and skin, but just looks different
than you so you are superior? If anyone believes that, they are ignorant that is
While in the library looking through the micro-fiche I came across some
news articles that upset me. In North Carolina, two soldiers of the U.S. military
were arrested. For what you might ask? The two openly white-supremacist
allegedly murdered a black couple near Fort Bragg. They were looking for
blacks to harass after they came from drinking. The black couple were shot as
they walk together along a street in Fayetteville N.C. The Army says that these
types of hate groups will not be allowed in the army. Its not these people, when
they sign up for the army ,are going to say, "I hate other races of people". So to
try to keep racism out of the army is close to impossible. The commanders
at Fort Bragg apparently knew there was a "skinhead" group on the base.
One of the two soldiers names was Private James Norman Burmeister,
he lived in Pennsylvania. They say he was as open about his white-supremacist
views,and had a Nazi flag hanging over his bed at the army base. Burmeister
was charged with first degree murder for the shooting at Fayetteville. HIs
accomplice in the murder were Private Malcolm Wright and Randy Lee Meadows
Jr. Wright was also charged with first degree murder, and Meadows was
charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit murder.
Another form of this prejudice is Hitler, and the Nazi's when they
slaughtered two thrids of the Jewish population in Europe during the Holocaust.
Then our government which is supposed to be open minded was no better than
