causes stress, which is pressure, tension, or a strain, on their family and friends. It is this dependency that makes alcohol unjust to our society. In some cases the alcoholic causes more stress on their family members and friends then on themselves. Alcoholics disregard themselves and others because of their dependency to this life ruining drug.
             When you think or hear the word "alcoholic", it is easy to pity that person, but no one really thinks of those who are closest to him or her. Children of alcoholics get hurt in this battle more than anyone. Most children actually live life as a big lie. The picture of the "normal family" hurts the children more then anything. The children are hurt not only by the abuse of their alcoholic parents, but also by trying to hide their secret lives from their friends and teachers. Most children cannot develop a sense of self-confidence because of this false life they are being forced to live (Forward 75). Some children even begin to fear coming home. Spouses, usually the wife, have the same fear. They are afraid to come home, because of the horror of coming home to a drunken husband or father who is angry for absolutely no reason except for the fact that he is drunk. They
