             The first book the Dr. Poythress wrote was Philosophy, Science and the Sovereignty of God. Next, he wrote Symphonic Theology. After this was completed, Dr. Poythress went on to publish The Validity of Multiple Perspectives in Theology. Then, he became the author of Understanding Dispensationalists. It was long after this work was completed that Dr. Poythress took on the project of writing Science and Hermeneutics: Implications of Scientific Method of Biblical Interpretation. Finally, he constructed The Church as a Family: Why Male Leadership in the Family Requires Male Leadership in the Church as Well and the book that we are currently reading, The Shadow of Christ in the Law of Moses. This book was written as a thank-you to all the Christ believing Jewish Christian in the world. This was for the simple purpose that it was through them, God's chosen people, that we were able to receive the Bible and receive the grace that God has shown us through his act of salvation!
             . As anyone can see, Dr. Poythress is dedicated to the Word of God and has a passion about correcting the error of what many people think true Christianity is. He is not only dedicated to the correct interpretation of the Word of God, but also correct teaching of the Word.
             EXPLANATION OF THE PURPOSE, THESIS, AND STRUCTURE
             It is clear, even from the beginning of the book, that Dr. Vern S. Poythress has a passion for the Jewish community. He is constantly praising them and thanking them for who they are. In looking for the purpose of why Dr. Poythress wrote The Shadow of Christ in the Law of Moses, my first reaction would be that he was trying to prove that the New Testament was the sequel to the Old Testament. However, I believe that this is actually just a point that he uses in path to persuading the reader to accept the true purpose of the book.
