Black Death

eve that the deadly microbe that caused the Black Death originated in central Asia. The bacillus, known today as Yersinia Pestis, is carried in the bellies of fleas that live on rodents. The bacilli live comfortably in stomach of fleas causing trouble. The Black Death epidemic (plague) bacilli (organism) began to multiply rapidly blocking the flea's stomach and causing it to starve. While the fleas were feeding they regurgitated Yersinia pestis bacilli into the bloodstream of its host. As the host died the starving fleas moved on to a new host. They preferred ground dwelling rodents of Asia, or the common black rat of medieval Europe but as a last option they fed on human host infecting them with the plague bacilli.              The Black Death is divided into three biotypes, each associated with one of the three major pandemics occurring in history. The biotypes are the bubonic plague, pneumonic plague, and the septicemic plague. The bubonic plague is commonly spread through fleas, and made a meal from an infected rattus rattus. Also, the bubonic plague was the most common epidemic out of the three epidemics the Black Death contained. The pneumonic plague is the most dangerous epidemic out of the three epidemics. This plague can be spread through aerosol droplets released through coughs, sneezes, or through fluid contract. It may also become a secondary result of a case of untreated bubonic plague or septicemic plague. The septicemic plague is spread by direct bodily fluid contact.
