There are many countries in this world and one event that can be different between countries is the funeral. To be specific, the United States and Viet Nam funerals are different in culture, religion and ceremony.
             First, one thing is different between the funerals in United States and Viet Nam is the culture, we had to hold a funeral in our own house because we do not have funeral homes as in the United States. For that reason, we need to place the dead body in the dead person's house. If a person follows the Buddhist religion, he can do that in his house. Sometimes, if a person dies away from home, his/her family cannot hold the funeral for that dead body in the houses. On the other hand, the United States funeral homes are always used for funerals for all, and the religion does not matter.
             In Viet Nam, the Buddhism religion always invited the monks to come to pray for the soul of the dead person, we cover the dead body in the coffin and close the coffin. In the process of praying for the dead person, we had to set a table for the monks to read Bible. Everyday, we need to read the Bible three times, and we also make offering for our ancestors. In the United States, many follow the Catholic religion, so we do not apply that custom often. A few day later, all relatives and friends come to visit, often consoling and staying over night with the family of the dead person. But in the United States, I have never seen relatives and friends stay. They just come to few minutes and then they leave.
             Another differences is in the United States, people do not use the clarinet and drum when they are going to bury the coffin. It is not as lively as a Viet Nam funeral because we have to ask someone to sing and take many friends with us on the burying day.
