             In the short story "Fall of the House of Usher," Edgar Allan Poe uses allusion in symbolism and allegory to capture the reader's attention. Symbolism and allegory often can be implying many different meanings. In the "Fall of the House of Usher" the nobility of the family and the house itself combine to portray allusion in symbolism and allegory, along with the incest within the family.
             Edgar Allan Poe, uses the symbolism of the nobility of the family in a way to show that just because they are rich doesn't mean that the family can't have problems within themselves. The family slowly starts to show signs of falling apart, along with the house. The house is slowly beginning to show signs of wear and tear, and also crumbling away into the past. Poe uses the house to show signs of problems that exist among the generation of families that have inhabited the house. The Usher House is in perfect condition for the first couple of generations of the family, and slowly as the family posses more problems for themselves the house begins to decline in quality. Poe chose this method of showing the house deteriorating because over time the family has begin to decline as well. The family basically never leaves home, and therefore Poe uses symbolism including the house as part of the family. At the end of the story when the house crumbles into the ground, it does thi!
             s because the family has died out and there is no one else there to live in the house, and so therefore it crumbles in after the family has became deceased. This also can portray that the Usher House is indeed apart of the family, when the family goes it goes as well.
