How College Students Make Money

I wanted to find out what kinds of jobs college students have and if they liked what they were doing. The following study consists of students in Dr. B's 2010 English class. I gave each student a questionnaire with seven questions to be answered about their job. The purpose of this study was to see the different aspects of students' jobs and to find out if they enjoyed their work.
This was the first question on my survey. It was interesting to see the variety of jobs my college class had. Some of the jobs included night supervisor, loader at a pharmaceutical warehouse, inside sales representative, painter, city employee, and a front desk clerk at a hotel. One thing I found in common with all of these jobs was that they didn't require much training or experience. I think the reason for this is the students, while going to school, do not have much time to train for a job. Another reason is these jobs aren't going to be the students' career of choice. That is why they are in college: to get an education so they can choose their work. I think the majority, if not all, of these jobs are temporary and help to get the students through college.

This strengths my hypothesis that the jobs college students have don't require much training or experience. Most people won't settle for a job that only pays five to nine dollars an hour, but a college student would because he/she is in school to eventually get a job that pays more. The fact that the majority of college students do not make more than ten dollars an hour indicates that the jobs are temporary.
